On the 21st of October 2018, a week before the presidential elections in Brazil, Avenida Paulista - home to Latin America's economic hub -, saw thousands of protesters inundate the avenue supporting the extreme-right-torture-sympathiser, - then candidate - Jair Bolsonaro. A week later, on the 28th of October, Bolsonaro wins the election against Haddad, his left-wing opponent, by 55% to 44%. Brazil legitimises its admittance to a neo-liberal era, which in the eyes of many Brazilians, sees the country's democracy being torn to pieces by extreme policies that will destabilise the country's social integrity.

The video reportage was shot handheld with an A7sii and an onboard mic. The piece on young black Brazilians was shot in Salvador, Bahia, with a Nikon D800.
